The Fostering Network alongside independent fostering providers have developed a best practice guide to help the movement of foster carers between organisations. This guide was issued with the support of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services. We follow this guide so your transfer to us will be as straightforward as it can be. So even if you already foster with another organisation and have a child or young person in placement you can still transfer to us.
There are many reasons why people want to foster for their Local Authority. We have already welcomed lots of foster carers from other organisations and these are some of the reasons why they wanted to foster for us:
- They understood the importance of supporting children and young people in their locality and the additional benefits that can bring for them in terms of reduced travel times to school, visitations, etc.
- They wanted to work with a non-profit making Local Authority Fostering Service who only has the best interest of the child or young person in mind.
- Placements with their former fostering organisation weren’t as consistent as they wanted and were not ideal, in terms of matching.
Each transfer request is dealt with on its merits and some can be completed relatively quickly, depending on the situation. If you’re thinking about transferring then please call us on 01443425007 for an informal chat or fill in an enquiry form now and a member of our team will call you back at a time convenient for you.
