Kate and her fostering family
Kate and Dean, along with their two boys have fostered for 2 and a half years with us. We asked her what #ThisIsFostering meant to her and this is what she said:
“For me fostering is about the smile and the eyes of child in your care. It takes time patience, love, nurture and consistency but when that smile becomes true and their eyes begin to sparkle you know as a foster carer you are doing something right.
My birth children are a big part of this and they make me proud every day to share their mammy and daddy over and over again. To love and to lose and to still give your heart to another when it hurts and longs for the one before is testament to them and as their mother I feel truly blessed.
We continue to foster because even though it hurts to lose them, we would never take away the time we got to share with these little ones. Each one teaches us something new about who we are and what we have to offer and in turn these little ones give back by enriching our lives with the unconditional love we get in return.”
The picture shows Kate, Dean and their two boys spending quality time together after just moving a little one on to another placement, helping each other heal.
